God called our beloved Auntie Ahl home yesterday, August 10. She was 61.

Auntie Ahl dedicated her life to her family and to spreading love and compassion to those around her. Her character was founded on fervent prayer and unwavering faith. She was confident that God fights her battles for her despite everything she has been through.

My father texted me yesterday to inform me that Auntie Ahl had passed away. The first thing that came to mind was, ‘we are in this season of our lives,’ I couldn’t respond, but in my heart, I silently prayed that God would comfort her family, relatives, and everyone who cherished her.

God revealed something to me this morning.

The sun is setting here, but rising somewhere else. As the Bible says, “There is a season for everything…” (Ecclesiastes 3:1), and we are destined to go through seasons in our lives — seasons of growth, pruning, and harvesting. In all of these seasons, God teaches us to value our time on earth and to set our hearts on things above (Colossians 3:1). When the time comes that God calls us home, we go.

Sometimes we wonder, “Why, Lord?” And He responds in a whisper, God is sovereign. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). We may not fully comprehend how a loved one’s death appears perfect to God, but we are called to submit to God’s will. We may never appreciate what God is doing through our sadness, hardships, and grief. But we know that His plan will reign supreme and that He will be with us through it all.

Nothing, however, compares to the glory that awaits those who love Jesus. But then again, the only way to go see Jesus is to die here. Those of us who are left behind can feel confident knowing that Heaven has welcomed another beautiful soul. We are reassured that all blessings — on earth and in heaven — flow from Jesus’ arms.

Since Christ has risen (Romans 6:9), we are assured that he has no residence in the grave — and if he does not, neither do we (Romans 8:11). As our suns set on Earth, we are warmly welcomed by sunrise in Heaven.

In all of these, God makes everything beautiful in His time.

To my beautiful Auntie Ahl, well done, good and faithful servant.
